Four more states and union territories (UTs) join the “one nation, one ration card” scheme, taking the total number of states and UTs enrolled under the scheme to 24. The scheme allows eligible beneficiaries to avail their entitled food grains from any fair price shop in the country.

Andhra Pradesh’s governor approved the bill granting three capitals for the state. The decision paves way for establishing the executive capital at Visakhapatnam, judicial capital at Kurnool, and legislative capital at Amaravati.

The state government reduced value added tax on diesel from 30 percent to 16.75 percent, making the transport fuel cheaper by $0.11 per litre. With this, pump price of diesel will now come down to $0.98 a litre from the existing level of $1.09 a litre.
