Rajasthan approves the Rajasthan Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (Facilitation of Establishment and Operations) (Amendment) Bill, 2023. The amendment is aimed at increasing the period of exemption for government inspection from the current period of 3 years to 5 years.

Land Acquisition & Labor Regulations
Maharashtra gives assent to the rules formed under the Industrial Relations Code 2020, passed by the central government in 2020. Provisions mandate workers to give two months’ notice for a strike instead of the current 14 days and allows industries with less than 300 workers to lay off employees without government approval, among others.

Climate Change
Assam receives a loan worth $108 million from the World Bank for improving disaster preparedness and enhance flood forecasting. The project will benefit ~6 million people and is part of a larger $500 million investment program for Assam.

Tamil Nadu releases the Tamil Nadu City Gas Distribution Policy 2023 with the aim to speed up the supply of piped natural gas to homes. Under the policy, the government aims to establish 228,000 domestic connections and 2,785 compressed natural gas (CNG) stations within eight years.

Madhya Pradesh launches the Boat Ambulance initiative in the districts of Dhar, Alirajpur and Barwani with the aim to provide better health services to the tribal population living on the banks of the Narmada River in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh approves the establishment and upgradation of 184 health institutions with an aim to improve the health facilities in the state. The health institutions include 10 civil hospitals, 6 community health centers, 11 primary health centers, and 157 sub health centers.

Rajasthan passes the Rajasthan Right to Health (RTH) Bill 2022, aimed at ensuring access to quality health care in the state. Under the bill, the residents will be entitled to receive emergency care in hospitals without pre-payment. The state government will compensate the hospitals if patients are unable to pay.
