Maharashtra

Following recent building collapses which killed 50 people, the state government has announced a reconstruction and redevelopment policy for dilapidated but inhabited buildings in the Mumbai area. The new policy will allow developers to redevelop the buildings with a 50 percent floor space index incentive as long as they provide current tenants with flats of equivalent size when the work is done. Maharashtra will be the first state to form a conciliation committee under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act (RERA). Rajasthan has launched an Agriculture Produce Deposit Loan Scheme that will allow farmers to access short-term, low-interest loans using their crops as collateral.
