Piyush Goyal, Minister of State (IC) for Power, Coal and New & Renewable Energy launched thee DEEP (Discovery of Efficient Electricity Price) e-Bidding & e-Reverse Auction portal for procurement of short term power by state power distribution companies (discoms). All states have been asked to share their power purchase data in order to curb illegal transactions and to reduce prices by increasing competition.
