The Ministry of Home Affairs releases the Transaction of Business of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir govt (Second Amendment) Rules, 2024, increasing the powers of the lieutenant governor. The President of India has approved these changes under section 55 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019. The rules come in light of upcoming assembly elections and include increased discretionary power on matters related to law and order, police, prisons, and prosecution.
