Chandigarh has implemented the Motor Vehicle Aggregators Guidelines 2020, under which the fares charged by app-based cab aggregators like Ola and Uber will be regulated. According to the guidelines implemented on Thursday, aggregators were to be defined as a digital intermediary or marketplace, allowing passengers to connect with a cab driver.

In light of the Global Investors Summit 2023, scheduled to be held in Lucknow from February 10-12, the Uttar Pradesh Government has announced an increase in the subsidy offered under the Electronics Manufacturing Policy 2020. According to the amendment, a flat 15% capital subsidy will be offered on investments upto Rs. 1000 crore.

Madhya Pradesh has notified its PESA Rules to empower the Gram Sabhas to take decision on the rules and regulations with regard to all natural resources in the forest areas. The PESA Act will give more constitutional rights to the tribal people to reap the benefits of natural resources from the forest areas where they live.

Assam launched a new portal, “Amar Sarkar,” to act as a bridge between the people and the government. A total of 78 departments, including the panchayat department, has been included in the web portal. The portal will help people to register their problems and complaints through village committee officials.

Uttar Pradesh has issued the draft Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy-2022 while inviting public comments and suggestions for the same. The move is a precursor to rollout of the final policy that would aim to make Uttar Pradesh a 100% green hydrogen/ammonia consuming state by 2035. Turning the state into a leading green hydrogen/ammonia producer is another objective.

Uttar Pradesh government has introduced the Draft Uttar Pradesh Solar Energy Policy, 2022 with the objective of installing 22,000 MW of solar energy capacity in the state in the next five years. Some highlights of the policy include a 60% subsidy for farmers (70% for farmers from the Musahar, Vantangia and SC communities) for the solarisation of private on-grid pumps, and a subsidy of Rs. 15000 per acre for solar energy installation on privately owned land, among several other incentives.

Uttarakhand has released the draft of the Uttarakhand State Solar Policy 2022 and has invited public comments and recommendations on it. The draft solar policy will be implemented by the energy department and will be aimed at providing relief to those who will set up solar plants up to 25 MW in Uttarakhand.

Maharashtra launched the first leg of the mohalla clinics – labelled by the BMC as Hinduhridayasamrat Balasaheb Thackeray (HBT) health centres at 52 locations in Mumbai. The initiative was launched from one of the centre which has been started at Kala Killa in Dharavi area.

Telangana opened eight new medical colleges in the state. All eight medical colleges were inaugurated by KCR from Pragati Bhavan in Hyderabad. The eight new medical colleges are established in Sangareddy, Mahabubabad, Manchiryala, Jagityala, Vanaparthi, Kothagudem, Nagarkurnool and Ramagundam. The classes for the MBBS first year in all these colleges started simultaneously.

Karnataka came at the top position while comparing the total installed capacity of grid-interactive renewable power of all the states of the country. The state had a total installed capacity of 15,463 megawatts (mw), according to an RBI publication, “Handbook of Statistics on Indian States 2021-22.”

Karnataka approved a new policy that would allow farmers to not only grow sandalwood trees on their private lands, but also sell them in the open market. Briefing reporters, Health Minister K Sudhakar said the new policy was approved to meet the growing demand for sandalwood in the state.

Arunachal Pradesh opens its new greenfield airport, Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar. The airport is located at Hollongi, around 15 kilometres from the state capital Itanagar, and will link the border state with other Indian cities with commercial flights as well as other parts of Arunachal Pradesh through helicopter services.

Uttar Pradesh government has announced that it will be releasing a new IT & ITeS policy, 2022 with the objective of aiding the government’s plan of making UP a $1 trillion economy. The policy will aim to increase the IT sector’s contribution to GSDP from $6.93 billion to $74 billion in 5 years. The new policy will include the creation of 4 IT cities, 18 IT parks and three centres of excellence. The government has also announced Rs. 5000 crore investment in the IT sector. The current IT policy was formulated in 2017, and is scheduled to lapse in 2022.
